What To Do If Your MacBook Pro Or MacBook Air Doesn’t Turn On

If your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air doesn’t seem to turn on after you’ve pressed the power button, follow these steps. If you’ve tried all the steps below and still isn’t turning on, contact our team for support.

Check Power Connections

Make sure your power cable is undamaged, plugged securely into your MacBook and a working power socket. Your MacBook battery may be flat but a charging icon should appear on your display.

If you have a Mac or iMac and have no built-in display, make sure your external display is connected to a power source, connected to your Mac and turned on.

Press & Hold The Power Button

Press and hold the power button on your Mac for about 10 seconds. Every Mac has a power button. If your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air has Touch ID, press and hold the Touch ID button.

Then press and release the power button normally.

Unplug Accessories

If your Mac or MacBook isn’t powering on, you could have an issue with one or more accessories or their cables. Unplug all accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, USB hubs and mobile devices. Then press and hold the power button in the step above.

If You See Something On Your Screen

If your screen displays a flashing question mark, a circle with a line through it or anything else, this means your Mac is turned on but isn’t starting up. You may need to get in touch with our Repair Specialists so we can have a look at your device.
