What is AirDrop?

AirDrop is a wireless file-sharing feature developed by Apple, designed to make transferring data between Apple devices seamless and efficient. It utilises both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to create a secure, peer-to-peer network, enabling users to send and receive files, photos, videos, and more without the need for cables or external drives. AirDrop is particularly advantageous for moderate-sized file transfers and is supported on Macs, iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch devices.

To use AirDrop on a Mac, open Finder and click on AirDrop in the sidebar. Ensure both devices have AirDrop enabled and are discoverable. Simply drag and drop the files onto the target device’s icon in the AirDrop window. AirDrop can be configured to accept files from contacts only or from everyone nearby, providing flexibility and security based on user preference.
